About PortLens

What PortLens is

PortLens is a portfolio analyzer for retail investors. Paste in your holdings and it shows you what you actually own: the True Exposure look-through explodes your ETFs into their underlying constituents, so overlapping funds and hidden single-stock concentration become visible. On top of that sit risk metrics (beta, Treynor ratio, Jensen's alpha, diversification scoring), return projections from five independent models, and portfolio competitions. The core scan is free and works without an account.

Why it exists

Most portfolio tools stop at the ticker level. If you hold VOO, VTI, and a few tech stocks, your broker shows you five neat positions — not the fact that you may hold the same handful of mega-caps four times over. Fund look-through analysis has long been standard at institutions; PortLens exists to make it a free, five-second check for everyone else.

Who builds it

PortLens is built and operated by Finsight Labs Ltd, a UK company. How every metric is computed — data sources, formulas, refresh schedules, and known limitations — is documented in full on the Methodology page.

Editorial policy

• Every article shows its publication date and, when substantively revised, its updated date. We update posts when the underlying data or methods change.
• Claims are grounded in primary sources — SEC filings, FRED economic data, the Ken French factor library, fund prospectuses — and in the same computations that power the product, as documented in our methodology.
